When people are looking for their Chihuahua friend, most can’t tell the difference between an Apple Head or Deer Head Chihuahua. Although these Chihuahuas come in distinct head sizes due to their head shape and small body size, it is always best to choose the one you think is most suited for you. Here are the differences between an Apple Head and Deer Head Chihuahua:
Apple Head
An Apple Head Chihuahua consists of a rounded dome head and a smaller mouth area with very bright eyes and short legs. Their bodies are more petite in size and are more prone to dental and respiratory health issues. They also have a soft spot on the top of their head called a Molera which is very delicate. My Chihuahua, Mango, has an Apple Head because of his rounded head shape.

Deer Head
A Deer Head Chihuahua consists of a narrow head with longer and tapered mouth; they also have longer legs and slight larger body size. These Chihuahuas are less prone to dental and respiratory health issues due to their longer mouth area. They also tend to give more of a “deer” look than the average Chihuahua.

The differences between an Apple Head and Deer Head Chihuahua come with their unique physical traits and health benefits. However, they both make great dogs and are very lovable with the right owner and care.
