It was December 2021, when I had gotten a message from my sister telling me that she had found a small Chihuahua late at night. She told me that he didn’t have a collar and no owner would take him in. At first, I was a bit hesitant because he was a Chihuahua and usually, they have a rep for being feisty and cruel. Despite my hesitations, I told my sister to bring him over to my house. When my sister brought him over, he was very small with a little floppy ear. I had set up his bed area where he would sleep and he cuddled into his bed. As I thought of a name for him, I knew his name would be Mango because of how sweet he is and my love for Mango ice-cream! It was the perfect name for him as it was short and sweet just as he was with me. The first night was a bit rough as he was whining throughout the night but eventually, he adjusted to his new home with me. I would bring him into my bed and he sleeps like a little baby with my huge blanket. I could tell he loved blankets already. The moment I had Mango was when I knew he was meant for me! Over the next couple of days, I would bring his bed to my room so that he would keep me company while I do homework for school. I wrapped him up in an old jacket I had as a blanket for him and would will burrow under the covers. He would even sit on my lap as I spent the day doing homework with him by my side and I would wrap him under the huge blanket I had around me. I had gotten him a festive red Christmas sweater and took his first Christmas photos under the tree. He looked adorable with his little Santa hat and Christmas sweater. By the time Christmas came around, I grew to love him more and more each day! I was not expecting a dog for Christmas however, when I got Mango a few weeks prior, I knew he would be my dog soulmate for life and that I would love him very much.
Going into the New Year 2022, Mango and I would spend the whole day together at home keeping each other company as I did homework for college. I would bring him on my lap and cuddle with him when I would write many assignments and essays for my classes. He was like my personal study buddy whenever I needed some company doing homework. I never knew I could love him this much but, I already did. He loves to be on my bed like a couch potato and we would cuddle with huge blankets just as he loves it. I got him his first outfit of the New Year which were pajamas and He looked so adorable in them! He became just what I needed at the right time because I could never love any other dog as much as I love Mango. Over the years, we have had many exciting adventures together and my love for him grew gradually each day! From Christmas, to spending our days together like we still do, and many funny moments together, Mango has become the love of my life that I needed the most in a dog form.
Currently in 2026, we still spend our days together with lots of love and fun moments. He still loves to sleep with many blankets and has more than three beds now because he loves to take up the whole house to himself. We take as many photos as we want on each holiday to never forget any moments and we still love to be by each other’s side each day. I never knew that a little small Chihuahua could change my life and that is what Mango is to me.
